Unakoti
Latest news from Unakoti district.
Unakoti district, in Tripura's north-east, has its headquarters at Kailashahar near the Bangladesh border, with Kumarghat as its second subdivision. It takes its name from Unakoti, a hillside of giant rock-cut carvings of Shiva and other deities more than a thousand years old — one of the most important heritage sites in the North East, which draws pilgrims to its Ashokastami mela every year.
Republic Tripura's Unakoti page collects our coverage from the district: news from Kailashahar and Kumarghat, border and trade issues, tea gardens and farming, heritage and tourism at Unakoti, local politics and administration, and police and crime reports — the latest stories first.
